It's about service and personal touch
Equipped with the experience of working at a large Japanese ship owner, T. Tsutsumi founded Azalea Maritime Agency B.V. in 1986. Together with others he formed a company that would come to be well known with seafarers throughout Europe.
Because of the “family style” setup, we have always been able to adjust to the challenges of changing times and economic climate. Flexibility characterizes our company and in 2016 we were proud to celebrate the 30 year anniversary. Through the years two important elements that stood at the base of the company were never touched: Service and Personal touch.

In past years we adjusted the focus from assisting crew for all types of matters to enhancing skills and knowledge by facilitating specific high quality training at the liaised training center. Our center for Safety is now located in Croatia.
Many years of close contact with seafarers made it possible for us to identify the specific needs of seafarers. One of the needs that clearly surfaced was income protection, which seems globally unavailable for seafarers. In cooperation with one of world’s largest ship owning and operating companies, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, we were able to successfully implement insurance benefits for seafarers.
In January 2018 Azalea Maritime B.V. changed to MOL Maritime (Europe) B.V. to continue its manning services as an MOL in-house company. At the same time Azalea Maritime Benefits B.V. was formed to further support seafarers with financial security.
Azalea Maritime Benefits is now providing health insurance and income protection to seafarers globally. We do this by supporting unions, providing solutions to large shipping companies and by supporting specialized insurance brokers. With our maritime background we now aim to provide more stability and financial security to all seafarers and their family.
